Foureyes – Mino Kim

“Wear something that is YOU, something that you feel comfortable in and reflects who you are.”

Mino wore an outfit which he designed in collaboration with Daniel K. Since he loves bold colours, he saw it as an opportunity to create exactly what he wanted, and what better colour than red!

Mino wore another outfit that he partly designed himself (the pants and the shirt) and paired it with a jacket that he fell in love with by Damir Doma that he bought on a recent trip to Sydney.

Mino, where do you draw your inspiration from when putting your outfits together?

I like to stand out and wear bold and unique pieces so for me my inspiration is always coming up with something that matches my personality and mood that day.

What did you enjoy most about MBFWA2014?

My highlight was definitely getting to show people my work on the runway as part of the New Generation show. I collaborated with NZ brand Daniel K on designing various pieces for her collection. The whole experience was such a thrill that I can’t wait to do it again. Check our video out here

What do you love most about photographing people and blogging about fashion?

I love the variety of what we do and love to meet people along the way. The online medium is so amazing to me as it allows you to reach people you could never previously reach with more traditional forms of media.

Well I guess that’s it from the guys from Foureyes. So go check out their blog and get their book! ACDM, thanks so much for giving me a sneak peek into your fashion lives and getting in front of my camera. It was a blast getting to know you and watching you work your camera (hey I’ve got pics to prove it too)!

Looking forward to catching up with the boys at our next fashion event! x

Foureyes – Danny Simmons

“Wear what you like, but push yourself and don’t be afraid to experiment.”

Danny created a very simple look with a white neoprene top with zips at the elbow, plain black pants and a custom made saturno hat in rabbit fur felt.

Danny, where do you draw your inspiration from when putting your outfits together?

All over the place! I usually find one item or an image I like and try to build an outfit around that.

What did you enjoy most about MBFWA2014?

Definitely the rush of a busy week immersed in fashion. Shooting heaps of street style, attending shows, blogging and trying to fit in some fun after it all. It’s a tiring week but really exciting at the same time.

Hey, I heard you guys have published a book. Where can I get it?

Yes! Grab your copy here!

FourEyes – Chin Tay

“Always keep a sticky roller handy. Fur and lint is no good.”

Chin wore a sand-coloured oversized tee from Zambesi over a simple navy shirt and shorts.

Chin was head to toe in one of his favourite NZ labels, Kowtow.

Chin, where do you draw your inspiration from when putting your outfits together?

It often starts with a particular item of clothing like a hat or a shoe that I create a look around.

What did you enjoy most about MBFWA2014?

I loved the Haryono Setiadi show and the amazing street style.

What’s your favourite part of your website?

I’m loving the new section we have on the FourEyes blog where we get to share (over-share?) what we’ve been up to each week.

FourEyes – Alex Blanco

Meet the creative crew behind FourEyes: Alex Blanco, Chin Tay, Danny Simmons and Mino Kim. They are four unique, stylish and friendly fashion bloggers from New Zealand whom I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing while I was up in Sydney for the MBFWA2014. They aren’t afraid of experimenting with colours and textures; or even cutting off the sleeves or hems of their garments to try something different. This, I admire very much.

Not only do they have an eye for fashion, they have an eye for photography. They have collaborated with a variety of NZ fashion designers, judges for the NZ Young Designers fashion show, and even written and published their very own street style book. Their impressive book has over 300 pages of colourful and awe-inspiring street everyday people. Must get your copy here.

The one thing that impressed me the most was the detail they put into their outfits – including their camera straps which they co-designed with Saben (NZ Designer). See their range here.

Here are the boys from left to right, we have Alex Blanco, Chin Tay, Danny Simmons and Mino Kim.

To keep this blogpost short and sweet, I’ve decided to introduce each Foureyes member everyday of this week. First up is Alex Blanco!

“Keep things simples and don’t over-complicate your outfits”

Alex wore a pretty simple outfit – a Zara blazer with leather sleeves which he altered himself by chopping the sleeves off! Shorts, a t-shirt with a leather upper half to tie in with the blazer and a pair of silver shoes. The sunnies are  from Zambesi.

Alex wore an all white look with gold metallic detailing on the jacket purchased from Thailand. The pants and t-shirt are from Zara, and the shoes are from Country Road which he painted in white because he couldn’t believe how hard it is to find a good pair of white shoes! Why didn’t I think of that?

Alex, where do you draw your inspiration from when putting your outfits together?

I like classic shapes and usually start with a central piece and build a look around that. I think that way, you can keep your look simple and not ‘clutter it’ with too much.

What did you enjoy most about MBFWA2014?

I always love the creative energy and buzz that comes with fashion week and think that MBFWA has such a high level of designers that show as well as street style at the venue that it’s always such an inspiration to attend the event and soak it all in.

What do you enjoy most about being one of Foureyes

The most exciting part about what we do is that we never know what we will get involved in next and who we will meet along the way (like yourself)!  For example, we have worked on projects such as working with a milliner to create a range of hats and even published our own book that is now on sale all around New Zealand.
