MFW Model Casting Day 2018

It was refreshing to see a new wave of bright young faces and personalities at this year’s Melbourne Fashion Week model casting day, and I’m very honoured to be associated with the event which celebrates diversity and beauty from all cultural backgrounds. I still believe and see, that Australia is still sadly a racial discriminatory country. I mean, take a look at all the fashion campaigns on the billboards or have a scroll through Instagram, most talents are white Caucasians. I was chatting to one of my Stylist friend the other day and he shared with me that a Customer called the company and complained about an advertisement which featured a black model. Then she carried on saying she will no longer shop there because of it. What utter bollox! It makes me so upset to know that racism is still predominant in our society. Well isn’t our sunburnt country historically dominated by beautiful Aboriginal people?

Anyway, I’m not here to rant but do let me know if you have experienced anything similar. I want to make a point that we should all support all walks of beauty, size, shape and heights! God created us to be all unique and we should love and be acceptance of each other.

Without further odu, here are some of the favourite moments captured from the MFW casting day. In my next post I will share my favourite model street style looks so stay tuned.

VAMFF 2018 ELLE Australia runway

The 2018 ELLE Australia runway on day 2 at Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival was a beautiful spectacle of pastel sheers, pattern on pattern suits, puffy and one armed sleeves, well tailored denim dresses; and my absolute favourite look was the oversized deep fuschia pink coat with light grey wide-legged pants by Anna Quan. Who would have thought of that colour combination!

The line up for this runway were Acler, Anna Quan, Arnsdorf, BY JOHNNY., C/MEO Collective, Hansel and Gretel and Morrison; and earrings by KITTE.

MFW 2017 Models Off-Duty Street Style highlights

Did you know that Melbourne Fashion Week (#MFW) is the new, and cooler brand name replacing the old name, “Melbourne Spring Fashion Week”?

I’ve teamed up with the City of Melbourne, who is proudly presenting Melbourne Fashion Week (M/FW) to hunt down my favourite models off-duty street style looks. My standout looks were definitely Lin Xie’s Vetement’s x Champion sweater and sneakers by Seppe Zanotti; Bianca Guest’s slick black vintage Guess jumpsuit; and Bradley McGill’s hound tooth pants by COS and Calibre turtleneck.

I also went behind the scenes at the model casting day to capture a few moments of the models charming the judging panel of 11 people with their personality, walk and posing. 50 new fresh faces will be chosen to walk the runway at the MFW and I’m super excited to see who will be walking at this year’s runway shows.

On the same note, I will snapping up my favourite street style looks at Melbourne Central so please come down and say hi, and hopefully get your most fashionable snapped and featured on their social channels. Pencil the details down on your diary now:

Vogue American Express Fashion Night Out (VAEFNO)

Ok, so here are my favourite looks and moments from the MFW Model Casting day.

Coach 41ers

Last Saturday, Coach Australia invited me to celebrate the new Australian Coach flagship store at Chadstone, the Fashion Capital.

The Coach flagship store has undergone a major revamp and the result: warm, luxurious and inviting. To carry on their unique combination of American attitude and design, superior product quality and commitment to customer service, a Craftmanship Bar has been added so you can have all your leather goods personalised and cleaned. Which means, every time you purchase a leather bag from the Coach store, you can choose a cute leather tag and emboss your initials or name on it, with your choice of colour and font size.

To celebrate the launch, I have created a mini fashion editorial with the Coach girls, Chervil Tan and Summer Kane from Vivien’s Modelling agency wearing their latest and edgiest collection SS17. My favourite pieces are their leather and varsity bomber jackets.

Enjoy xx

New York Fashion Week 2016 Day 5 Street Style

Day 5 street style highlights were taken outside Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim and Thom Browne shows.

Gucci bags and loafers; denim under skirts and shirts with large cuffs; frayed pants and skirts; and off-the shoulders continued to dominate the streets; but I’m especially appreciating the level of colour and sophistication. I’m loving the super long vests layered over a simple white shirt and denim pants; large pleated tops, slip dresses worn over tees and the new Philip Lim SS17 collection is to die for.

Below are my personal favourites, including funny woman, Whoopi Goldberg and she hasn’t aged one single bit! She was such a treat to shoot, incredibly charismatic where she made a few jokes while she signaled us to get off the road so we can take a picture of her without getting killed. What a legend!
