Surrounding Light

I met a lovely photography student from RMIT a few days ago who visited my studio and interviewed me personally for his school assignment. He asked me a very good question, “what’s the most important thing to look for when shooting?” I told him that to create powerful story telling images is the way you use your surrounding light. Whether it is natural light (I LOVE shooting subjects in backlight and soft golden light) or using artificial light. Light sets the mood and adds so much dimension to an image.

To give you an idea what I mean, here’s one of my most favourite photo shoots to date with style blogger, Jess Dempsey from What Would Karl Do.

I must finish this post by saying that I’ve been receiving so many gorgeous emails lately from all sorts of people ranging from students, fashion bloggers, fashion clients to magazine/fashion editors from the US! I am deeply humbled by all your enquiries about my work, or wanting to work with me (or assist) and following my fashion work on Instagram. Thank you so much xo
