Dressed Up Denim featuring Nami Nguyen

Nami Nguyen is one sartorial force to be reckon with in the Melbourne menswear scene. He grew up submerged in the Australian culture where he went through many phases of personal style such as grunge, skate, b-boy, street, back to skate until he eventually found his great love for the “classic sartorial elegance”. Nami is also incredibly knowledgeable and passionate when it comes to tailoring, and expressing individual style, oh and not to mention…one of the biggest shoe collection of leather shoes and sneakers I have ever seen.

Behind all his tough looking tattoos, Nami is really an all rounded genuine guy whom I have the pleasure of working with, and calling my friend.

We can’t wait to share more of our work when he launches his own lifestyle brand, but for now we hope you are inspired by his “dressed up denim” look.

Life in Calibre x Mr Gumbatron

Luxe menswear styling and tailoring is my latest obsession at the moment. I just love the way men are so particular about the way they put on their suit (it must well fitted, no creases around the shoulders), the colour and pattern choices for their pocket squares, layering upon layering, vast array of shoes and of-course the way their hair and/or beard is sitting. About a month ago, I walked into Calibre looking for a present for my hubby but ended up buying a Moschino bandanna and a cute little Deer pin for myself. I used to remember my guy friends complaining why do women have so much better clothes and accessories, but I think the tides have turned because all I seem to be buying is XXXS clothes and accessories from the men’s section. Why is that? You must think I’m crazy but thank God I got the nod from my hubby because all I’ve been doing lately is raid his wardrobe.

So what better timing when Calibre approached me to work with them on their latest “Life in Calibre” campaign with Mr Gumbatron. If you don’t know who he is, Lex is a talented Architect, Coffee and Style Blogger with superb styling and creates the most incredible flat lays. Every image that he posts on Instagram makes me want to reach out for a coffee or dig my mouth into his nutella donut (which is the latest Melbourne craze at the moment). He is super cool and without a do, here are few of my fave street style images from the “Life in Calibre” campaign with the competition details below.

Self Worth

Many years ago I used to thrall through photography blogs to measure my worth, wishing I was as masterful as them or wanted my life to be as flavorsome as their food flatlay. It was only until I realised how ridiculously unhappy and stupid I was and snapped out of it. I stopped comparing and focused my time and energy on doing my very best. There is so much freedom in that truth.

If that’s you right now, please do yourself a favour and stop deceiving yourself with lies. You are unique and damn good at what you do.

Happy hump day everyone! x

Christian Kimber AW15 Passport Collection

Last Friday, I finally got to meet the man behind the classic Tassle Loafers.

Christian Kimber is one humble and dapper footwear artisan to watch. British born, Melbourne based footwear and accessory designer who handcrafts the most incredibly comfortable and luxurious pair of shoes that I’m aching to wear (sadly I have tiny feet so I couldn’t fit into anything). His latest AW15 collection, the Passport collection is inspired by various menswear genres and lifestyle environment. Christian’s design philosophy have always been a reflection of what he and his friends would wear which makes perfect sense. Just hang with his crew and you will see why, because all his mates are seriously dope, down to earth and stylish.

Every sole has a story to tell, just like the Bryon sneaker above – the blue wave design symbolises the waves from Bryon Bay.
