I had so much fun prancing around in my beautiful cotton stripe pleated dress by the Brooks Brothers. It was the perfect look for the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo. I would have loved to wear my hot pink Dior pumps just to give me the extra needed high but as you know, being a photographer I would rather be comfortable than being in pain. So pairing my dress with a sneakers by Bared Footwear were definitely my choice of shoes. To add a little more flavour, I stitched a couple of pink and white pom poms with little tassles at the back of my ankle socks. Gotta love a bit of DIY!
Huge adoration to Gerard Wilton for styling me for the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo. Special thanks to Brooks Brothers and Bared Footwear for my looks xxx

The Portsea Polo is one of the annual events I really look forward to in the new year because I get to catch up with everyone, and bring my hubby to chill out and enjoy the fashion, the atmosphere, meet my friends and see me in my street style mode, haha.
Surprisingly, the fashion at the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo has really taken up another notch. As much as I wanted to put my camera aside to hang out with my hubby, I couldn’t help noticing a few trends which were worthy to note. Among the pool of mostly white outfits, I was pleased to see a few gorgeous outfits with beautiful suiting, sequined, sheer, floral detailing as well as soft linen relaxed tailoring.
Clementine dressed in D&G and Shanin in Fendi were hands down, my favourite looks of the day (see first image). What was yours?
Huge thanks to Brooks Brothers for dressing me (stay tuned for next post) and Two Birds Talking for having me!
Day three of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival brings us to Crown Oaks Day (aka Ladies Day). Oaks did not disappoint. The Ladies came in all the feminine glamour that my lens could wish for. Gowns, adoring floral, lace and bright colours, complimented with delicate bows, boaters and head bands, completed impeccable outfits. The seasons finest designer bags paired with killer Valentino rockstuds stole the show, and possibly the flesh of the brave ladies who wore them for hours (the heels that is). And what would ladies day be without the dapper gents who put in as much effort to get that perfect head-to-toe look.
I enjoyed Oaks very much this year. I even took a moment to have a chat to the lovely Bec Hewitt. Bec is a real sweetheart and down-to-earth, which of-course the media doesn’t like to portray. Don’t believe everything you read on the news stand!
Fashion on the fields is quite a step away from my traditional street style photography, but nevertheless I was still in my element, spotting and snapping the most fashionable Race goers having a good time.
Well it’s a wrap from me, that was my final day at the races, and I sincerely want to thank everybody for their support – PR agencies, my photographer buddies for hanging out with me, and all the fantastic people I got to meet and snap along the way. Oh, and thanks for the love regarding my coverage for What Would Karl Do too, I’m glad you are enjoying my take on fashion on the fields.
Lastly but not the least I want to thank the following people:
So here are the shots taken in and out of marquees and my “Birdcage street-style”.
Always Karen xx

As we all anticipated, the weather on Melbourne Cup Day was mixed with sun rays and rain, but this did not dampen the mood of any Race goers. This time, I visited a few Marquees and roamed around the Birdcage capturing the fashion as the day went by, and I couldn’t be more happier to snap up some pretty amazing fashion.
Once again, Gucci as worn by Kate Waterhouse, and Nadia Fairfax; and Dolce & Gabana as worn by Lindy Klim and Viktoria Novak dominated the streets. Jennifer Hawkins made a red hot appearance in Misha Collection.
Enjoy the street style highlights and I’ll see you tomorrow for Oak’s Day!
